Cassandra Monique Batie also known as Andra is a American R&B, soul and singer/songwriter. The accolades she has received include a Grammy Award as well as an Children's and Family Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award. She was also nominated to win the Academy Award. Andra is not simply a throwback R&B performer, but her gospel blues and jazz roots is presented in a manner that's effortless and sophisticated. The debut album of Andra Day, Cheers to the Fall (2015) topped the R&B/hiphop charts. Additionally, her contribution to Marshall (2017) have earned her a Grammy Award and Academy Award. Growing up living in San Diego and surrounding areas her first performance was at church, and then enrolled in The School of Creative and Performing Arts. After the graduation ceremony, she began to gravitate towards modern R&B music, jazz and pop but was drawn into the soul and jazz performers of the earlier. Kai Millard Morris caught her show and offered some of Day's music to Stevie Wonder. The Motown legend in turn connected Day with veteran of the music industry Adrian Gurvitz. Day's fan base on YouTube grew quickly after she joined forces with Gurvitz, Jeffrey Evans and Buskin. The trio later signed a major label deal with Warner Bros. It was picked up and played on radio by many DJs. After the signing of Warner Bros. Records, she began working with producer Adrian Gurvitz for her debut album "Cheers to the fall" (2015). Album included single Rise up that was adopted as an anthem by social justice movements all over the world. Day won two Grammy nominations for the category in the category of Best R&B Album for her album. The United States vs. Billie Holiday, a concept-album on the famous jazz musician's life and career, came out in 2019. The same year, she was a part-time actress in a biopic of Holiday's life The United States vs. Billie Holiday (2021). Andi Matichak, a American actor. She first appeared in the film Halloween as Allyson, after appearing in numerous television shows like Orange Is the New Black (Orange Is the New Black), Park Avenue (666 Park Avenue (666 Park Avenue) as well as Blue Bloods and Orange Is the new black.
